Joshua’s latest book The Minimalist Home offers a practical and comprehensive room-by-room guide to a decluttered, refocused life.

Wouldn’t you love to love the home you live in?

Very often, how you feel about where you live has more to do with what’s inside than the place itself.

Bringing together all his key teachings on minimalism, Joshua addresses all the usual concerns people have when contemplating what they fear is going to be a drastic lifestyle change.

It’s definitely not drastic in the traditional sense. Mildly uncomfortable, maybe. 

The book covers the whole house. Every space you’ll find in a typical home is featured, so there’s no chance that you’ll end up with a spic ‘n span living area and a cluttered basement. This guy is methodical to a T.

Along with the color-by-numbers guide, Joshua has also included a ton of other useful stuff: lists, inspiring testimonials, and even special topics to help you form your own strategies for minimizing.

What I like best about Joshua’s approach to this lifestyle is that he’s nowhere near hardcore. His definition of minimalism sums it up perfectly.

Plant-Based Love

We’re super passionate about eating a plant-based diet. So much so that Ang wrote an epic 5-part blog series on the topic and then turned it into an ebook. (As one does.)

The final instalment of Eating a Plant-Based Diet for Beginners is chockfull of resources for everyone from the aspirant vegan and curious omnivore to the desperate mom whose kid refuses to eat animals.

Why we never thought to include it on our resources page from the get-go is a mystery that Ang has yet to solve. Suffice to say, it’s here now.

Along with a glut of books, articles, TED talks, movies and podcasts, you’ll also find additional resources like the recently added Vegan Maintenance Panel test, which checks for potential nutritional deficiencies.

Living Love

We bought our JTC Omni V Blender shortly after our Nutribullet’s teeth wore away completely (after a year and a half of daily use it was to be expected). Blendobi (that’s what we named him) is fancier than the Nutribullet, but not quite in the same league as the Vitamix.

He makes the meanest silky smooth smoothies and smoothie bowls ever. We use frozen bananas for extra creaminess and Blendobi is fine with that, he makes short work of them. Read our article comparing Juicer vs Blender to see what suits your lifestyle.

Despite being staunch(ish) minimalists, we do have the odd thing in our home that’s there mostly because it looks pretty. Our Himalayan salt lamp also has healing properties (which was the main reason we bought it), but we like how it looks too.

When I was a kid my Mom would let me order two books a month from the Puffin Book Club. I still remember the anticipation of waiting and the excitement when my new books finally arrived in our postbox.

I’ve felt that same sense of anticipation every time I turn my Kindle on. Old schoolers bemoan the fact that it’s not the same as holding a real book and I get that (kind of). But the choice of titles is sooo much wider , plus you can balance it on your lap and have TWO hands free for snacking!
